Different types of Health Screening

Health Screening

Health Screening is the act of doing certain procedures which will determine if a person if healthy or not. One of these procedures you might have already heard of, B.M.I. As you probably already know, B.M.I determines if you fit or fat utilising your height and weight as a base of calculation. Click the page below for more information on B.M.I. Some examples of health screening other than B.M.I are skin-folds and blood tests.

Skin-fold

Skin-fold involves pinching the skin in order to determine how much excess fat a person has, a skinfold calliper is used for this action and an example is shown below.

There are three main parts of the body where skin-folding would be most effective. Those 3 areas are the hip, the tricep, and the inner thigh. Although there are other areas, these specific 3 contain the most most amount of fat in the body. Although skin folding is not very accurate, it is able to tell a person if he/she is overweight or not.

Blood Tests

With blood extracted from a persons veins, blood tests can be done in order to find out if a person hasn't contracted any diseases, or test the organs' function. The blood is specifically extracted through a needle. The blood will then be transfered to a lab where doctors will test it.
